Back to basics

As technology evolves as one of the drivers in our industry we need to focus on what is required to achieve quality outcomes for our clients.  This is reliant on PDT’s highly skilled professionals providing Innovative Design and Quality Documentation.

Celebrating 78 years this year, PDT has a strong depth of knowledge that has been passed down through each generation. This knowledge has helped us to design and document many iconic and challenging projects. We invest time mentoring and developing our staff in the construction detailing and documentation of projects in an efficient and effective method in Revit.

Knowledge

Partner and Senior Associate, Richard Patenaude is a leader in this field of construction documentation and detailing.  Richard understands construction and many of you reading this may have been lucky enough to work with him at some point.  In addition to his project work Richard also mentors our design and documentation team in construction methods. We ensure our documentation teams possess the skillsets required for each of our projects and supplement the knowledge with monthly training sessions on a variety of topics which are led by Richard in conjunction with other senior staff and Consultants.

This ongoing training provides our teams the confidence and capability to understand all aspects of designing and documenting projects.

Our team is creative, smart and know how to get things built.

Technically Speaking…

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is an integrated process well established at PDT.

Using Revit to create 3D models from the outset of a Project, we are able to study and analyze the design intent, and develop and deliver smarter designs in a 3D-intelligent format.

These models progress through the documentation stages to produce drawings and schedules that are coordinated and clash-detected, ensuring a smoother construction process on site.

To maximize the benefits of using Revit and to deliver consistent high-quality documentation, PDT has a QA controlled library of building components, project templates and protocols. This is constantly monitored and updated to ensure we align with industry standards.

Each project commences with a kick-off strategy to ensure that the team fully understand the requirements and expectations of the Revit model. We can then model confidently and produce quality deliverables on time and exceed client expectations at the various milestones along the way.

Our BIM team oversees the entire process, carrying out QA audits and offering best-practice solutions throughout the duration of the project documentation.

Please contact Richard Patenaude if you wish to discuss anything further.
