PDT Architects is pleased to have been engaged by Ballina Shire Council as the Principal Consultant to develop, design and deliver the project under a traditional contract with Bennett Constructions.
PDT worked closely with Ballina Shire Council and in consultation with the stakeholders and sporting bodies to achieve the vision - design a two-court sporting facility to attract international and national level: Basketball, Netball, Futsal and Volleyball competitions, as well as to provide the greater community with access to a broad range of activities reflecting the diverse needs of the city.
PDT Architects used a holistic approach to design the new indoor sports facility, where the site connectivity to the street and the adjoining Ballina Coast High School was critical. We ensured that the architectural synergy and physical connection ultimately offer a shared four-court facility. The multi-purpose nature of the facility drove the need for adaptive spaces and a universal hall to capture the array of sporting regulations and potential for community special events and activities.
