On Tuesday the 26th of February, a small group from the PDT Interiors team were invited by Living Edge to partake in an afternoon of volunteer work for FareShare Australia.
FareShare is an Australian organisation dedicated to rescuing food that would otherwise go to waste and turning it into nutritious meals for people in need. In Brisbane, the ingredients arriving into the FareShare kitchen are supplied by Foodbank who recover food from paddock to plate, rescuing and sourcing food and groceries from farmers, manufacturers and retailers.
In the short time frame of 3 hours, the team from PDT, with the help from the ladies at Living Edge, were able to cook 200 litres of Rosemary Chicken & Vegetable Dinners, Dice and prepare 300kg of raw vegetables and vacuum pack and seal ¾ of a tonne of nutritious food for distribution to areas such as Toowoomba and the flood affected Townsville region.
