The Seniors Living market is becoming increasingly sophisticated. Residents are being offered an array of alternative accommodation styles, price points facilities and services to complement their active lifestyles. The 2018 PwC/Property Council Retirement Census indicates an increased preference by retirees for vertical apartment style accommodation with “nearly 30% of all new retirement communities under development” having some component of vertical living.
In 2015 PDT Architects were engaged by Stockland to masterplan and design a greenfield $63 million vertical retirement living community at Kawana, to meet the needs of seniors over differing stages of their lives.
Construction commenced in November 2016 under a Design and Construct basis, with PDT Architects and McNab Construction delivering an eight storey, 140 apartment retirement resort featuring one, two and three bed plus alternative options over 20,000 m² in September 2018.
The site features landscaped grounds, a resort style pool and a 660 m², two storey clubhouse facility featuring a bar, dining room, lounge, billiards room, library, hairdresser and wellness centre.
