About the Project

The City of Sydney invited architects and landscape architects to enter a design competition to create a new park and aquatic leisure center for the Green Square area.

The PDT entry for the Green Square Aquatic Centre is a response to both the sites heritage and the proposed surrounding development.

Project Team

Nathan Clausen

Senior Associate/Partner/Manager Landscape Architecture

Outcome

PDT designed the proposed centre around elements which are a reflection of the surrounding natural environment.  Organic shapes have been adopted throughout, from the undulating parasol roof to the soft edged walls and non-standard shapes of the pool and boardwalk relating to the original sand dunes in the area.

The Split level pool concourse and the timber boardwalk link the diagonal corners of the site and connecting the aquatic centre with the proposed Gunyama Park.
