Sustainability:Incorporates Water Sensitive Urban Design Principles

About the Project

PDT undertook Masterplanning for the existing streetscape to Hervey Bay Airport and the new Industrial Estate.

PDT was engaged by Hervey Bay Council to create the concept design of the new and existing streetscapes, including parks and walking trails through existing bushland areas.

The completed design focuses on taking people on a journey to the main terminal building through the use of public art and sculptural elements along airport drive.

Sustainability was a consideration throughout the project design process and PDT Landscape utilised water sensitive urban design guidelines to increase the sustainability of the project using planted water treatment interventions to clean the water from roads and carparks before it is returned to creek systems.

Council have utilised the Masterplan  to successfully  activate and enhance spaces by upgrading entry signage and way finding signage and introducing new BBQ and shelter facilities, stormwater treatment swales and basins, creating a pleasant environment for visitors and those working in the area.
