About the Project

PDT met the challenge of designing an emergency building and the expansion and redevelopment of the paediatric centre and emergency care for the Prince Charles Hospital

Planning, designing and documenting a three-storey emergency building and the expansion and redevelopment of the paediatric emergency centre, in line with the Hospital Masterplan, resulted in a well-planned efficient facility

We made the choice to design a distinctive emergency building utilising primary colour both externally and internally to provide a facility that would be more comforting to children rather than the typical hard clinical environment of a typical hospital

PDT has a long association with The Prince Charles Hospital starting in 1995 with a master plan reconstructing the majority of the hospital campus into a homogeneous facility.

More recently, PDT were selected to redevelop the hospital’s pediatric center involving an expansion of the hospital’s emergency department.  Careful planning and close engagement between the PDT project team and hospital staff lead to the creation of areas for temporary relocation enabling the hospital to remain operative24/7.
