Outcome

PDT met the clients brief designing a stadium that has now become a popular fixture for sporting and entertainment events in Townsville. The Multi-purpose air- conditioned sports arena features an international standard wooden sports floor, Multi-purpose function rooms, a public gym and offices all of which are well used.

PDT added increased flexibility to the design via the option for the arena to be set up for feature sports events with tiered seating on either side of the court for 2000 spectators. Dividing screens provide the option of playing multiple sports on three line marked courts. The arena can also be carpeted to provide space for expos, dinners, conferences or other events.  Skybox rooms, on level 1, provide corporate entertaining areas for sports events or as individual meeting/ conference rooms. The design features retractable walls allowing the flexibility for rooms to  be opened to accommodate larger groups.
