Mackay Aquatic Recreation Centre

Mackay ARC is a combined initiative between the Australian Government, Mackay Regional Council, and CQUniversity to develop multi-facility recreational opportunities then enhance access and participation of people, attract and retain local sports and integrate sports and health-related training and education. Both Stage 1A & 1B is the first stage of the overall masterplan.

PDT Architects and Paynters collaborated to deliver an IAAF Class 2 Athletics Facility, including a new clubhouse, canteen, car parking facility, and synthetic running track, as well as a new FINA Certified Aquatic Centre featuring a 50m outdoor competition pool, 15m covered heated pool and a 25m covered learn to swim pool. All pools are temperature controlled.
The Changing Places facility is the first registered facility of its kind in regional Queensland and has proven to be highly beneficial since it’s opening.

This highly successful collaboration has achieved a remarkable facility for the people of Mackay.
