About the Project

The redevelopment of Stockland Hervey Bay re positioned the centre as Hervey Bay’s largest retail hub and the premier shopping destination for the Fraser Coast.

Attracting a new mix of both national and international brands, the $115 Million Stage One extension doubled the existing centre’s size to 35,000m2 and provides an exceptional retail experience for the region. PDT worked closely with the Stockland design team to deliver their vision for the centre as the new meeting place for Hervey Bay.

The new extension to Stockland Hervey Bay includes Major stores Coles and Kmart, and 5 mini-majors, Kmart Tyre & Auto and additional roof top parking totalling over 1680 spaces.  The new café precinct, Shoreline, provides 10 food outlets and offers a choice of internal seating or outdoor alfresco dining.  Two new major entries signify the new food and fashion precincts, holistically creating a vibrant destination housing over 70 specialty stores.

The reconfiguration of malls and the integration of the new with the old centre, with the use of resilient finishes and materials, encourages customers to spend time together whilst shopping and dining in a relaxed atmosphere.

PDT collaborated with the consultant team in Revit and managed significant leasing design changes to achieve both BIM deliverables and satisfy the D&C scope of services. The project, accredited in May 2014, achieved a 4 star Green Star Retail v1 Design rating representing ‘best practice’, in line with Stockland’s Sustainability Charter.
