About the Project

With space for up to 150 guests the newly adapted cricket pavilion is a valued addition to sporting and event facilities at historic Toowoomba Grammar School.

PDT Architects worked closely with the Heritage Council Architect to ensure that the pavilion compliments its surrounds.   As a result the building meticulously addresses external vistas and incorporates themes such as wide verandas, pitched roof and brick work with cream banding in keeping with existing school buildings.

The design has integrated the existing areas of the pavilion, with the new additions, producing a finished building which is both highly functional and visually represents the schools sense of tradition and community.

The location of the pavilion secluded from other school buildings added to its long term viability as an after -hours event space for the school community and enables the building to bring both social and economic benefits to the school.

The pavilion adaptation has been widely welcomed by the school community and is a popular event and sporting venue
