Shorncliffe Train Station Renewal Project *Current Project*

PDT have been engaged to work with Queensland Rail on Shorncliffe Station, a terminus on the Shorncliffe Line. This project combines both an accessibility upgrade and restoration work to station buildings with heritage significance.

Restoration works are being focused on the existing station building, an iconic feature of the local community and air raid shelter near to their original 1897 footprint. These buildings are in need of major restoration due to subsidence, termite damage, and general disrepair.

The restoration is to be carried out in accordance with conservation principles while improving accessibility to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act, ensuring safer and more accessible facilities for persons with disabilities. This will see the platform raised to approximately 60% of its length (including boarding points, station office and key pedestrian interfaces), as well as new wayfinding signage, tactile indicators, accessible ramps and seats, public address system and hearing aid loop technology.
